Scott MacFarlane, the third generation of family leadership at MacFarlane Energy, began his career in 2002 working in service billing and quickly moved into roles that shaped the company’s efficiency, safety, and growth. By 2003 he had introduced wireless dispatching to the business, setting a precedent for adopting innovative technologies. Over the years, he has expanded these efforts to include artificial intelligence systems that enhance customer experience, improve record keeping, and pinpoint opportunities for training and professional development. He has been instrumental in strengthening safety programs across the company. This includes implementing initiatives that reward drivers for reviewing and improving their driving habits on a daily basis, complemented by structured driver and technician training and meticulous documentation practices. These efforts have increased accountability, reduced operational risks, and reinforced a strong culture of safety. His leadership has guided the company through major acquisitions, the growth of its workforce to more than 100 employees, and the ongoing development of talent in the skilled trades. In the broader industry, Scott is deeply engaged. He serves on the Energy and Environmental Committee for the New England Council, is Vice Chair at the Massachusetts Energy Marketers Association, and chairs the Greener Heating Fuels PAC, which he co-founded in 2022. His past service includes acting as Government Affairs Chair for The National Energy and Fuels Institute, trustee of the NEFI Education Foundation, and Chairman of the American Energy Coalition’s Marketing Committee.
