Ralph Stainbank

Ralph Stainbank is Head of Casualty for the London & Rest of the World (LROW) Region of Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re). He is also Chair of the Regional Management Council for the LROW Region. LM Re is the $3bn treaty reinsurance business of the Liberty Mutual Group. The LROW Region of LM Re writes approx. $1bn in premium across four major product lines – casualty, property, financial risks, and aviation across several territories – London, Bermuda, Singapore, Australia, Continental Europe (financial risks) & Latin America (financial risks). Ralph joined Liberty from Swiss Re in 2006 and has played a key part in the development of LM Re’s casualty treaty reinsurance offering in the London Market and latterly the development of LM Re as a standalone global business within the Liberty Mutual Group. Ralph has over 28 years’ experience in (re)insurance and has worked in London and Zürich, Switzerland. He has served on the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) North American Casualty Business Panel for over 10 years, serving as Chair from 2020-2022. He served as Deputy Chair of the LMA Non-Marine Committee in 2021. He sits on Liberty Specialty Markets’ (LSM) Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Committee and is also Chair of the LSM Charity Committee.
