John Simmang, Jr.

John is an Executive Vice-President of The Nitsche Group, one of the largest privately owned insurance agencies in the country. John, who joined The Nitsche Group, is a native of Giddings, TX and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Edward’s University in 1990.  After college, John attended Texas Tech School of Law for one year before taking a leave of absence to begin his insurance career as a field agent for the Knights of Columbus.  Then, in 1992, he joined The Nitsche Group as the manager of the Bryan/College Station location.  Before being promoted into his current position as the Program Lead for The Nitsche Group’s Automobile Dealer Division, John served as the head of the Employee Benefits division from January 2003 through May 2010. John is proud to have earned his Certified Risk Manger designation before he earned his Certified Insurance Counselor designation because he feels it is more important to understand the risks, as well as the options for dealing with that risk, before deciding what insurance products may work for the risks. A committed community leader, John is an Eagle Scout and an active member in the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club, holding numerous leadership positions in each.  He is a past president (four terms) of the Giddings Economic Development Corporation, as well as serving one term as Secretary/Treasurer. John is a founding member of Trail Life USA’s Troop TX-0143 in Giddings, and he has served as Committee Chair since the troop’s formation in 2014. He continues to be active in the troop’s activities, including camping and high-adventure treks. John and his wife, Penny, also own and operate a gym in Giddings that they have grown over 2,400% since purchasing it in 2018.  Their favorite part about the gym is being able to interact with middle school to college age youths, and be a positive influence in their lives, especially those who are considered “at-risk”.
