Jake Green

Jake Green is one of the Technical Leads of Digital Forensics based in Envista Forensics lab near Raleigh, North Carolina.  After graduating from Appalachian State University (‘05), Jake joined the Rock Hill Police Department in South Carolina as a Police Officer.  The focus of Jake’s early law enforcement career was traffic enforcement and accident investigations. Jake’s attention to detail and investigative skills led to him being tendered as an expert in collision reconstruction, many commendations and promotions, as well as assignments as a Forensic Investigator and Detective.  During the fall of 2011, while assigned to a county wide crime scene and forensics task force, Jake began utilizing a Cellebrite Universal Forensic Extraction Device (UFED) and had great success.  With his ability to excel in this area, Jake’s primary responsibilities moved to the identification, collection, preservation, analysis, and presentation of Digital Forensic Evidence.  In May of 2014, Jake was sworn in as a Special Deputy United States Marshal and assigned to the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force (USSS ECTF). He had the honor of training at the National Computer Forensics Institute (NCFI) in Hoover, Alabama. While working from the small lab at the Rock Hill Police Department, Jake quickly gained a reputation for providing dependable, high level assistance, as well as a willingness to provide assistance day or night. Jake assisted twenty-three local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies throughout North and South Carolina.  As a result, Jake became one of the busiest single examiner labs in the country.   Since joining Envista Forensics, Jake has worked with defense attorneys, prosecutors, civil litigators, insurance agencies, businesses, as well as private individuals. While Jake is tasked with all case and matter types, his passion remains the application of digital forensics in criminal defense cases.  He has testified as an expert witness thirty one times in local, state, federal, and military courts within the US. Courts have qualified Jake as an expert in the areas of digital forensics, computer forensics, cell phone forensics, cell phone technology, cryptocurrency investigations, analysis of call detail records, and location evidence, namely Google Location Services. His most notable cases include the Commonwealth of Massachusetts vs. Aaron Hernandez (former New England Patriots football player) and many capital murder trials.
