Barry Slater

Barry has over 35 years’ experience in the London Insurance Market. He has underwritten and managed a wide range of both Casualty Insurance and Reinsurances classes of business. He began his career with Sentry Underwriting Agencies before moving to CNA Re to take up a position in their Claims department. He later became Claims Manager before moving into the Underwriting department in 1990 and progressed to the position of Director and Business Group Leader. In 1999, Barry moved to a new Lloyds Syndicate as Casualty Business Leader. In 2004 he joined Catlin Underwriting Agencies as Casualty Business Group Leader. He had a four-year spell as an Executive Director of Oxford Insurance Brokers Ltd before forming a London office for American Safety Insurance Company. In 2013 Barry joined Aspen Re as a Senior Underwriter focused on Casualty Reinsurance business. In August 2018 he joined Acappella Syndicate to Head the US Casualty Team. In March 2020 Barry re-joined Aspen Re as Head of Casualty Re London.
